Changes to Environment
The Bottlenose Dolphin is not a land animal it is rather a marine animal. If this animal was to live in Planet Arda it would most likely be living in places like North Valima Ocean, Southern Ocean, Belegear Ocean, and Southern Valima Ocean. Planets are planets which contain land and as we all know there is always a change in land over a long period of time or over the years. Ten million years is plenty of time for Planet Arda to have gone through several physical and climate changes, these changes affecting the animals that are found within the planet. Furthermore, the Bottlenose Dolphin would be most likely able to adapt in the Belegear Ocean.
Ten million years ago, during the time when Planet Arda is an Ice Age, the Belegear Ocean sea level had dropped fifty feet just like any other ocean and any other body of water. The Bottlenose Dolphin, or any other marine animal, would not be able to survive in these temperatures because of the extreme cold temperatures. The temperatures would have been freezing for these animals since it is an era of Ice Age for Planet Arda, it would have been really difficult for them to survive. Since the sea levels have dropped fifty feet which means that the amount of water that is actually available for the animals is very little which can cause the animals to die off sooner or later, any animal in general. This would not really have an effect on the dolphins since they have lungs not gills.
Over the ten million year period, the Belegear Ocean seems to stay the same in the size that it originally started. Like mentioned before, Planet Arda was in an era of an Ice Age, but nine million years ago, the climate started to increase a bit, meaning that the survival of marine animals would soon start to increase not only that but maybe the temperatures would to since the sea levers begin to rise as well. Eight million years ago, the levels had risen 100 feet since the ten million period, and as evident it meant that the climate was rising but not as quickly. Six million years ago there were some major ocean current patterns and the global surface temperatures continue to increase slowly. Four million years ago the sea levels have risen by 200 feet and the global surface temperature is at around 20 degrees Celsius; not only that but the sea surface temperatures also start to increase. Two million years ago the sea surface temperatures increase by five degrees Celsius and the sea levels have stopped rising by then, along with that the global surface temperature has stayed the same by twenty degrees Celsius within the past two million years. Present day the average global surface temperature is at twenty degrees Celsius, and the volcanic activity returns to normal. The temperatures would not have been exactly the warmest at the beginning of the ten million period but they were still cold enough to make it hard for the Bottlenose Dolphin to survive. As millions of year passed the temperatures in the Belegear Ocean would have started to increase making it easier for Bottlenose Dolphins and any other marine animal to survive.
The Bottlenose Dolphin would obviously not be alone in this ten million year period, it would have had its predators and prey accompany it. If the Bottlenose Dolphin would have had a hard time surviving in the cold temperatures in the beginning of Planet Arda, so would its predators and its preys. As the years passed and these animals began to adapt more to the temperature then it would be simple for them, because it meant that they would be getting to the point where there characteristics and ways of surviving would be to how it is now in present day. The warmer the temperatures kept getting the easier it would be for the marine animals to begin competing each other for food and for survival.
